# FILES

> View, rename, delete files, and manage storage.

View, rename, and delete files, and manage C5TAKO™ storage.

The device has **4 MB** of internal file storage and supports additional microSD storage. A card is not included.

## 📂 File Explorer

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"dracula"}}
FILES → File Explorer
```

Open this page to view files and check storage. Selecting a file offers these commands:

> [card] Read
>
> Open the file's contents

> [card] Rename
>
> Rename the selected file

> [card] Delete
>
> Delete the selected file

> [card] Crack
>
> Appears only for a supported PCAP file

> [!NOTE]
>
> 📷 **Image to add:** File Explorer with a sample file, highlighting filename, size, and active storage.

> [!NOTE]
>
> 🎬 **Media to add:** “Open File Explorer → select sample file → Read → Rename → go back,” with no real network data.

### Delete one file

1. Select a file in `File Explorer`.
2. Select `Delete`.
3. Read the filename again before confirming.
4. Confirm only when the filename is correct.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Files deleted from the device cannot be recovered.

## 🌐 Web Files

`FILES → Web Files` starts a Wi-Fi access point and a web server on the device.

> [card] [Configure the Wi-Fi name and password](https://c5tako.zipher.space/en/features/settings-device.md#wifi)
>
> Open the Device → WIFI guide

1. Open `Web Files`.
2. Connect a phone or computer to the Wi-Fi network shown on the display.
3. Open the displayed URL and manage files in the browser.
4. Stop Web Files when finished.

> [!TIP]
>
> Configure a Wi-Fi password before starting Web Files, and do not leave it running in a public place.

## 🚨 Format Storage

```text theme={"theme":{"light":"github-light","dark":"dracula"}}
FILES → Format Storage
```

This command deletes **all** files in the active storage, not only the selected file.

Verify the storage name before starting: formatting cannot be undone.

**1. Back up files**

Move important files out of the storage before starting.

**2. Check the storage name**

Confirm on-screen whether the storage is internal or microSD.

**3. Choose Format Storage**

Open `FILES → Format Storage`.

**4. Confirm or cancel**

Select `FORMAT` only when certain, or `Cancel` to leave data untouched.

> [!NOTE]
>
> 🎬 **Media to add:** A format demonstration using sample files only, showing the storage-name check and both `Cancel` and `FORMAT`.

> [!WARNING]
>
> 🗑️ Formatting cannot be undone. Choose `Cancel` if you are unsure.

## If microSD does not appear

1. Turn the device off before removing or inserting a microSD card.
2. Check its orientation and insert it fully.
3. Turn the device on and check `FILES → File Explorer`.
4. Try another card that contains no important data.
5. Check free space before beginning a recording.

If storage still does not appear, see [troubleshooting](https://c5tako.zipher.space/en/help/troubleshooting.md#storage-or-microsd-problems).
